I'll have to admit right off the bat that I am a huge Smashing Pumpkins fan. I purchased Zeitgeist the day it came out and was very pleasantly surprised. After having split up nearly seven years ago The Smashing Pumpkins return with a new CD that is fresh and fun and a sound that is more reminiscent of Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness. Gone are the dark and somber Adore-era excess or the "return to rock" but highly convoluted story of Machina. Zeitgeist while vaguely political introduces more subtle hooks and melodies which have previously been absent from most Pumpkins tunes. A few favorites: Tarantula, Bring the Light, Starz
