Thursday, January 17, 2008, 04:43 AM PST [Other]

From the Business Coaching PEG to the Educators PEG, from the Humor PEG to Health and Wellness , Motivational Leaders, Sales Experts, special interest speakers were in San Diego at the Marriott and loving it.

From the impact of the original Cigar PEG, to ongoing special interest collaborations, the Professional Experts, Diversity/International Speakers, Seminar Workshop Leaders, Writers/Publishers, Consultants/Facilitators, Youth, and Leadership groups were meeting and celebrating the essential operations of the speaking business from Aldonna Ambler's coaching on sponsorship, to getting your act together, to using video and Web tools to getting your topic out there and whether at Golf or at Philanthropy making a difference through contribution.

Dan Poynter, Mitchell Davis, Joe Heap, E-Speakers, News Council, PR/PR and Sue Morter blew minds and reminded people to bring change to a tangible level for bookings, auditions, interviews, and agencies.

Randy Gage, Dan Burrus, Joe Vitale, and Dr. Gina Barreca had the attendees in reaction, concentration, in meditation and back out into giggles and guffaws.  NSA Foundation had a dinner with Tonic Sol-FA and Joe "Mr. Fire" went over ZERO LIMITS co-authored with Hew Len and THE ATTRACTOR FACTOR where an ELVIS MERMAID was used to explain how to make something of nothing.

Convention attendance to Speaker Hall of Fame awards- the programs reflected Cavett Robert's methods of growing the industry and making meaningful contributions through the practice of the speaking profession.

    Workforce Strategies report promotes sectors

Thursday, January 17, 2008, 04:20 AM PST [Other]

Aspen Institute has long been acclaimed for its research and diligence.  It has just published a sound approach briefing on the lessons they learned in the field regarding low income workers.

November 2007, they published a collaborative study on access and acquiring better jobs. Cross the board, employers need workers prepared for a new economy which is more strategized and specialized in its output and processes.

Competency and special industry-based skills are what are required.  This is leading to a new training pipeline for California's Community Colleges and these kinds of programs lead to higher incomes, more consistent work, and higher quality sector oriented jobs which please everyone.

It changes the market because when workers and employers succeed like the Culinary Training in Las Vegas, these workers are "tomorrows workers".  Skill building is like teaching someone to fish- they retain the skills and become contributors to the regional and local economy.  To order the report, go to the website of the Aspen Institute's Workforce Strategies Initiative.

    Teacher Technology Proficiency Academy's help

Thursday, January 17, 2008, 04:01 AM PST [Other]

Instructional technology outreach is covering Outlook to Moodle and bringing teachers up to date.

From de li cious to Powerpoint and from privacy to newsletters, the programs are bringing teachers to Web 2.0 and giving them tools.

Making Podomatic digital posts and working with fonts, instructors spend a week capturing, creating, and studying how to communicate, email, or publish ideas, parent notes, and leave the old world of black and white typed print.

Great class and well implemented.  Challenging.

Thursday, January 17, 2008, 03:54 AM PST [Electronics]

Want to give up washing your floors?  You can bring home a circular robot that looks like a foot rest, but washes your walk space and eliminates carrying a broom.

CES had useful and ridiculous items to tantalize and tease from solar cell phone rechargers to the smallest video handheld with huge memory and fast frame rates.

Big events were Billboard on Digital Music Distribution, the Learning and media Sandbox Summit, New Innovations and Bill Gate's redirected purpose just to mention a few.  Many of the press are now off at Mac World in the Bay Area and on the way to NAMM.

Las Vegas was teeming with 150,000 visitors, new restaurants and building, lots of shows and shopping.  From the Monorail to the new Mart, it keeps innovating for the force created by an international trading phenomenon.  It is ready to serve these exhibitors and their staff and this annual source of income in the caucusing state is welcome, important and driving jobs.
