If you're new to apparel manufacturing then you'll need to learn a few things.  For one, you've got to learn everything you can about cut and sew apparel manufacturing.  You've got to find a good clothing manufacturer or sewing contractor.  Without the proper contractor, your first season could easily go to shambles.

These days, everyone is practically begging to leave China or South America.  The US dollar is dropping so fast that your costs on the rise.  The only options you have left are American clothing manufacturing or some other alternative.  Mexico has proven to be a great new solution for many manufacturers.  For one thing, it's very low cost.  The peso doesn't move much compared to the dollar and they have a very high quality of construction. 

If I were new to the business, I'd do everything I could to find a clothing manufacturer that deals with Mexico, and fast.
